We are often asked 'how long will the boots last?' Our answer is simple: it depends how you look after your boots and how you take care of them!
Care is vital for prolonging the life of all your leather goods, especially your riding boots as their use is normally harder than your shoes as they are subject to different weather exposure, sweat, dust etc.
These are some simple, yet vital, steps to help you care for your leather riding boots, leather chaps and ankle boots:
We recommend cleaning your boots after every single use.
Ideally for longevity we recommend use of bespoke Boot Trees.
How to clean:
If your riding boots, chaps or ankle boots are muddy or have horse sweat on them, remove the mud / dirt with a damp sponge or cloth and let them dry naturally away from strong heat sources (don't leave them next to a radiator or direct sun), do not apply any products until dry.
Apply a small amount of fine shoe leather cream using an applicator brush or dry sponge and let the leather absorb the cream for a few minutes
Using a soft bristle brush vigorously brush the boots until they feel smooth and the leather shines
You can then use a smooth cloth to achieve extra shine and to remove any excess cream
To achieve an even shinier effect (like a military style) you can use a wax based polish; we recommend using wax polish occasionally as doing so each time will build up a layer on top of your boots.
WE RECOMMEND USE OF PRODUCTS WE SUPPLY AS THEY HAVE BEEN TESTED AND APPROVED TO ACHIEVE BEAUTIFUL RESULTS
